New Purchases

So if you want to be Korean-like and trendy, you should buy everything brand new, it should be from a department store, and it should cost a lot of money. However I am still American with my father's stingy and tight-wade genes when it comes to certain purchases. My father did not pass down the be practical genes when it comes to clothes, shoes, and accessories. Dang it!!

Anyhow I have no desire to spend a ridiculous amount of money on furniture because our place is so tiny that is more crucial to focus on function than beauty. Especially when no more than two people can fit in our apartment. One of Patrick's co-workers stopped by once; I had to stand in front of the AC with my inhaler. No need for a repeated episode.

Get to the point. We finally after much Internet perusing found a couch and second closet!! For the last two months I have been scanning craigslist and Dave's esl cafe for used furniture from another foreign teacher that is getting ready to vamos. Not only did I have several failed attempts to nab a couch, I received a phone call and several text messages at ungodly hours, and had to transfer money into another bank account in Korean; it's lavender. That's right, lavender. Feast your eyes on this beauty.

David, Stephanie, anyone else who has been considering a visit to Korea; look no further. We have your sleeping needs taken care of. You say it's not long enough? Don't worry about it, the foot rest can move to the end and be an extension. Last night I was able to lounge in the living room as Patrick worked in the office. It is nice to have our own personal check-out space. It's fun to yell out to Patrick, "If you need me, I will be in the living room!" We really are starting to make each wall into individual rooms. The wall on the left is the bedroom. The wall on the right is more like a living room / lounging area. Ah, the joy of optimism.

Here is our new closet. You can't really buy a used wardrobe closet and at E-Mart (Target) they only sell poles. We actually upgraded to get one with curtains, hideous ones, nonetheless they are curtains. Next month maybe will will spring for more decorative ones to off-set the obscene amount of lavender in the room. Ooooo, maybe orange and we can go bohemian. Again it's functional, it has two racks and room to store a few bags or boxes in needed.

I just read in the newspaper yesterday an online store called G-Market. It's like ebay or amazon but all items are new and discounted. I'm looking into getting a toaster over for Patrick. At E-Mart they are usually 60,000 won, but at G-Market they are going for 35,000 won. What a steal. Pictures are pending.
