1 Year Old Birthday Party.....

Yup. Patrick and I went to a birthday party to celebrate with a 1 year old. One of my students, J.J. invited us to come. In Korea, the first birthday is an enormous and extravagant party. They had a huge buffet along with lots of professional pictures and two photographers to capture the entire event. In the picture above you can see the jumbo size of the pictures that were all over this room.

Can you believe this setup? Absolutely amazing. I was impressed!!

I won a large box of snacks because I came the farthest away for the event, The United States. Most Korean babies have ridiculously large cheeks and are pretty heavy looking. J.J.'s son may be the cutest Korean baby boy I have seen in the past six months. J.J. is also one of my favorite students. He comes to class at 6:40 for two hours before going to work. I have had him in the same class for the last 5 months, so we have become great friends. Patrick and I bought his son a picture book that also teaches some English vocabulary. So Cute!! J.J says that his son really loves to look at the pictures.

They also played a game where the baby picks up a card from a variety of options. He picked up a microphone, which means that he will become an entertainer. Moma didn't like it so she took it out of his hands and made him choose again!! He chose a toothbrush which means he will become a dentist. I think she was satisfied with that one. I didn't get a face shot of moma, she's beautiful.

It was a fun afternoon. As we left I decided to sit on the miniature couch while we were waiting on the elevator. Apparently I look like Alice in Wonderland sitting on a mini couch with my mondo box of goodies. It was a great day. Although in this photo, I don't think I look all that big in comparison to the couch. Does that make me mini? No, it must be the camera angle.
