A Win-Win-Win Situation

Yesterday Patrick and I took a stroll to the track field nearby our apartment. As we were walking to the school, we were talking about our checklist for Japan. Patrick likes to handle all the printouts and guide book stuff, which I am so appreciative of. When I go on vacation, I don't like to plan anything, I only want to worry about getting my bag packed and choosing which bakery good to have with my cup of coffee. However, I do have one thing I need to get before going to Sapporo....a small purse. Why?

If you know me, I only purchase large colorful bags or a small clutches, which obviously neither of those are sufficient for a 4-day walking excursion through Japan. I need something small and light, to only carry the essentials. I really don't want to pay a lot because who knows if I'll ever use it again, but sturdy enough to last me more than a week. Now that Patrick understood how complicated my dilemma was, he started shooting off ideas and one of them was to stop in at American Apparel to see if they had anything worth purchasing.

Well lucky us!! Feast your eyes on this beauty below.

I know you are probably wondering where does it fit on my belly? Or maybe you are wondering how I pull off such a lovely accessory such as this ruby red jewel? Sorry folks, I'm saving those photos for Japan. You are just going to have to tune in next week to see exactly how awesome I look with this bag draped around my hips, and remember, my hips don't lie.

I am so excited about my discovery that I have to jump the gun and share my joy with those that can appreciate a stellar 80's bag. Patrick says he can't wait for me to ask him to hold my fanny pack!! I think we should go back and get "couple" fannies, we are after all in Asia. Anything couple-like is well received here.

In reference to my title, it's a win-win-win situation. It's a win for me; I have a bag. It's a win for Patrick; he gets to walk beside me. It's a win for all fannies out there, we are helping them with their comeback tour.

For those that want to know the intellectual aspects of fanny packs, I encourage you to continue reading. Below is a bit of information I gathered when I googled "fanny pack":

The fanny pack (Canada, US), belt pack (US), belly bag (US), Buffalo pouch (US), hip sack (US), hip pack (UK), or bum bag (UK)

Fanny packs reached the peak of their popularity in the late 1980s and early- to mid-1990s. Today, however, fanny packs are considered unfashionable by most people. "Weird Al" Yankovic, for instance, mocks the wearing of fanny packs in his song "White & Nerdy." Many consider the fanny pack a sure mark for an out-of-place tourist, invoking the traditional tourist stereotypes known around the world.

The handiness and ease of opening of fanny packs has also resulted in them being used as holsters for storing loaded handguns. Many manufacturers make fanny packs that are designed for concealed carry.

I thank those that support the fanny pack.
