Having some indoor fun with shaving cream and food coloring. A bath was mandatory after. Reesa played with this for almost an hour. I would not recommend this for carpeted areas. :)
For the last 2 weeks we have been housebound. I had a terrible head cold that I still haven't fully recovered from and Reesa had hand foot mouth. We're not sure if she shared it with her cousin Isaiah or he shared it with Reesa, but I am glad that they are learning to share. :)
I know it wasn't the "best" timing but I had potty training on my calendar last week. It would be our last chill week before little brother. So...sick or no sick.....I decided to put her cloth diapers away Wednesday morning and we went commando for a few days. Reesa had been showing the signs. She would tell us when she peed or pooped in her diaper. She had been reading the potty books and understood what a potty was for. She's had a potty in her bathroom for some time now and sat on it occasionally.
We were missing a component. Reesa wouldn't let her pee or poop go in the potty. She would hold it for hours. She would wait until we put a diaper on her for nap time or she would have an accident. We actually took her to a mall and got jamba juice and she still managed to hold her pee for 4 hours!! Talk about stubborn. When we timed it right and rushed her to the potty before she went, she would be so proud of herself that she made it to the potty. I guess some kids have a fear of letting it go but she didn't have a fear of sitting on the potty. I was so confused.
Her teacher at school told me that Reesa would catch on soon...just keep going. I told myself I would commit to a week and then re-evaluate. Finally Tuesday morning at 11:00am...6 days later; she let her pee go in the potty!! I was so amazed at how it just clicked. We headed to BabysRus to buy a travel potty seat for when we are out. Well.....let's just say Reesa used it before we bought it. Ask me about it.
Wed we had 4 hits on the potty and 2 misses. Today we have had all successes. So far so good. I hope we continue down this path.
