We have made it to South Korea!! Our flight on Singmpore air was not horrible, minus the numbing of the toosh with 5 hours to go. We have flown to Seoul Airport before and it is much nicer to pop a sleeping pill because you are flying during the night than the watch as many movies as you can because you can't fall asleep and it is in your best interest not to. So, we made it will little difficulty through customs. We get throught the security check point and there is a little asian man holding a sign with our name on it!! We have to get a picture of this.
He catches our eye and we nod our heads. Off we go and he walks straight to the garbage can and ripps our sign to shreds and tosses it within 10 seconds. So much for the photo.....Our drive to Seoul was nice. Our driver didn't speak a lick of English, so no need to small talk. Although it would have been nice to find out what certain areas are and what direction we are headed. His cell phone kept ringing and it was the academy giving us our schedule for tomorrow morning.
We are to meet at Pagoda Tower at 10:30am on the 19th (!!!) floor to speak with our realtor and go look at places and be back by 2pm to meet with our recruiters to go over specifs and get familiar with our departments. I am on floor 3 and Patrick is on floor 10, how lucky is he!! We work until 6ish and have this weekend off to get ready for the next year I guess.
The driver pulls into this ally and there are pieces on cloth hanging down each side like anywhere you turn you are entering a car wash. He pulls into the car wash and there it the main lobby entrance to our hotel. So we get out and he gets all our bags out and takes us up to the 5th floor. He helps us to our room, gives me a grunt because one of my shoes is in the room and not in the mini lobby of the room where you leave you shoes! I am messing up already!!
Shower time. There is no shower stall, only a shower head connected to a hose that hooks on top so you don't have to hold it. There is a tub but no curtain, so everything can get wet. The toliet paper?? It's covered by a plastic cover. I feel they value efficiency because there in no reason you shouldn't be able to shower, brush your teeth, and wash your face in one swoop. :)
The room is oddly shaped. It has small room (like a closet) when you walk in for your shoes. The all-in-one bathroom is on your left. You step forward into a larger rectangle that is the living area with a vanity and a huge flat screen mounted above it. A small couch at the end with extra blankets and then a small rectangle attached on the left with a queen size bed. Very cute, but if our apartments is this size, I might have an anxiety attack.
We hope to go to a Saturday market somwhere and begin exploring different churches on Sunday. We woke up at 5:30 wide awake, so we are going to utilitze this awake time until the regular clock kicks in.
It is 7:50 and we are going for coffee and to rub elbows with the Koreans!!
