Church Hunting......

Well, we are now underway at work. I have a full 8 hours of teaching. I have speaking classes from 7am - 10am and advanced writing and speaking classes from 4-9pm. A nice variety and I like that I have easier classes in the morning and they are the 3 same classes, it makes it easier for preparation. Then I have the afternoon to focus on my critical thinkers. :)

Sunday we went to Sarong Community Church which is just down the street from us, about a 10-15 minute walk. We grabbed some Dunkin' Donughts coffee, no amount of money can make me continue to drink their coffee. It is really hard to justify paying for a small coffee that taste bad when you know that it is still more expensive than a venti at Starbucks!! The English service was located in another building a 1/4 mile away from the main church. It is in a basement of a building with no sign. The only way we were able to locate it was by the generosity of a young couple that could tell we had no idea where we were :)

The service was nice, the speaker didn't ask for a "amen" every 2 seconds, so I considered that an upgrade. I would like to see more foreigners at a service but I have a feeling we are the "more foreigners". Patrick and I are going to go back next week and give it another go. They played a worship song and it was about going to where God has called you to go. "Lets stop singing and go" We are called to go and feed the hungry and heal the broken. I was struck by this because for the past three months I know God has called us to go to Korea and every so often I would doubt it. However time and time again, he reaffirms in small ways that we are to be here.

In July when we couldn't find our passports, we spent all night re-tracing our steps, we were on the phone with Erik and he was praying for us. I thought, maybe this was a sign we are not meant to go??? Not a chance!! I knew that we had placed them somewhere in our storage unit and that we would have to go digging through our neatly packed stuff to find them early the next morning. Sure enough, there they were and we got our visas the next day. Patrick and I continued to forget things that we needed to get ready for Korea, but God was right there next to us reminding us just before it was too late. We worked really hard and making Korea not happen, but no matter what God allowed it to still take place. Once again, through worship on Sunday he reminded me that I am suppose to be here. It's scary and re-assuring at the same time.

We went to Costco after church and I can't ruin the story because I have a feeling that Patrick would like to blog about......Hint: We rode the bus for over an 1hr when it was a 10 minute ride. :) You have chalk up everyday as an experience here. Otherwise I might go mad!!
