Friends Back Home.....

Today is Friday and I love Fridays because I usually have nothing to plan for the rest of the week (work wise). So this afternoon I came back to our apartment and got to relax after a long morning of coffee chats with my students. Today is the last class day for the August session. Most classes go for coffee or out to a pub for drinks/dinner. My last class tonight, only one student is coming and he doesn't drink and he asked if we could have class and continue discussing the Scarlet Letter because he really go into it and actually finished the novel!! Can you believe that? I was asked by a student that pays to listen to me if I would continue to teach? Of course I said and I asked him if he actually read the entire novel in English or in Korean, he read it in Korean because the English version was too difficult for him :) I was wondering how he was able to pick up so much detail. However, he does want to improve verbalizing his opinions. Anyways, I came home this afternoon and was able to watch an episode of the Gilmore Girls. Don't judge, I like the witty script writing and I do not think they are real people. After, Patrick had to convince me that I would not be happy in Stars Hallow or Hartford....I just really want to try a cup of Luke's coffee.

Which makes me think of coffee....my students are so awesome!! Apparently it's obvious on an international level my love for coffee. I have now received 5 coffees as gifts from my students because they know how much I love coffee. Should I be worried that I have a problem or should I just take it as a very sweet gesture? To protect my own feelings and my ability to teach seven classes I will say that my students are very considerate.

As I was saying....Patrick came home this afternoon and we got to call David and catch up using Skype. I absolutely love skype. We can call a land line for 2 cents a minute, but if we call a land line in Korea it's like 30 cents a minute, weird. David just got back from Columbia, which wow, what an amazing experience. Then as we were logging off, Justin & Jessica Ubel called us and it's free when it's computer to computer!! It was so nice to have a short time with close friends. I know family is important, but we constantly keep in touch with family. Friends can be more difficult because it's easier to forget about them rather than make the effort, but I think when they are family friends it's like family. So, I guess we are still keeping in touch with all our family.

All for now, we are looking forward to a relaxing weekend and exploring new territories. I love Saturdays. It means we get Starbucks. Who doesn't love Starbucks Saturdays. Probably people who have the luxury of buying it every day. They suck.
