I'm married to Brad Pitt.....

We finally made it to the Han River!! We spent 3 hours last weekend walking around and found wonderful discoveries and none of them included the river. I find that much of our discoveries have been due to lack of direction in our beautiful new city. Normally an adventure that would take 1-2 hours, takes us an extra hour because we now have to calculate "getting lost time". Last Saturday we decided to look for the furniture district and stumbled upon a fruit/vegetable market. We tried to make our way to the river and found the cutest street with shopping, wine bars, and pubs. Apujeong is like the Rodeo drive of Seoul. As wonderful as the new discoveries have been we still wanted to walk along the river.

We set out for a round #2 yesterday and were successful!! Triumph, we found the walkway that takes you to the river and not on a bridge over the river. Yes, we did get on the wrong bus but only once. We got to walk along the river with ice cream in our hands as we watched several Koreans riding bikes, speed walking, and running. How unhealthy of us to get in their way. Did you know that Koreans speed walk for exercise? The parks have exercise equipment to stretch and do a few reps of squats in between a jog. I do not regret taking the ice cream over the bench press. I figured anywhere we go we are walking and it's healthier than staying at home, right?

Did you know that I am married to Brad Pitt? Apparently Patrick is the Brad Pitt of Korea. It's the funniest thing ever. Every month there is a theme party at the cafe and all the students go to it after class for snacks, beer, and wine. This month it was a Mardi Gras theme with a limbo contest, very innocent. I went up after my last class at 9pm and Patrick joined me at 9:30. Some of my students have been eager to meet my husband and I told them he would come after work. Several students asked to take pictures with him and wanted to chat. Were they all ladies? Absolutely.

I had a 10-minute discussion with the CEO of Pagoda and she had a translator for specific details because her English isn't fluent. The translator told her my husband works at Direct English and is the very handsome one? The very handsome one? I thought I was called in for her to get to know me. If Patrick is Brad Pitt, does that make me Angelina? No one has dropped her name? I still get the, "Where does your blood come from?"

Even if I look like a foreigner from a unknown country, I am happy to report we are doing well and really enjoying our time here. It can be frustrating not knowing the language. This month I want to learn the Korean characters. There are 30 and I heard you can learn them pretty easily. We will see.

Oh.....Aaron. I have seen a few "Couple Shirts". I tried to get Patrick to wear one, but he refuses. In time.....
