V-Day Block....

Valentine's Day is a bit backwards here is Seoul. Women buy the men chocolate. Huh? Why would men like chocolate? Isn't that only for women?

White Day, March 14th, is the day that men buy women gifts. Now, I decided that since I would still be in my recovery process from surgery, that I should get both days. Especially since in March we will be in Bangkok. I don't think Thailand celebrates White Day.

Another fun fact: Korea has the most love holidays in the world. I actually have no proof, but I can't think of another country that has more holidays than Korean, specialized for the purchase of chocolate for loved ones. Let me list: Peppero Day, Valentine's Day, White Day, and 100 day anniversary, 200 day, 300 day........the count continues.

The morning began with a nice warm potato breakfast from Chef Pk. I made the coffee. We are drinking French Roast at the moment, in case anyone was wondering. Patrick loves to take photos of his creations. Observe. I think I threw off his photo because I wasn't willing to give up my coffee cup :) Yes, that is spam. Bacon is hard to come by, but if your fry those slices up it tastes like Canadian Bacon. A close second. Who am I kidding? That'll do pig...that'll do...

We spent the morning cleaning our 4x4. I think Patrick really wanted to make it a fun and relaxing day for me because he never wants to clean. He was Mr. Handyman and adjusted a few pictures because we had our landlord get rid of our t.v. and apparently it really made a difference of the placing of pictures on the wall.

We got tickets for, "He's Just Not That into You". Super cute and predictable, but I don't watch those movies hoping there will be a twist to the plot. We have 3 theaters in a 2 block radius. We went to the one at the bottom of our hill. We had buttery popcorn and a coke. Yum. Oh and gummies. I really love gummy bears...kinda like Swedish Fish....kinda

After the movie we went back up our hill to a kebab place. We pass this place 2-3 a day and always say hi to the chef cooking outside. So, Patrick made reservations, apparently he looked surprised that we made them. Should I be nervous?

We had a traditional starter. Raw egg cooking right in front of you on a hot skillet. Does it look done yet? Hard to tell.

Here are the skewers. The meat practically melted in your mouth. The octopus was good too. 2 seafood, 2 chicken, and 2 meat skewers for $25. Not bad.

Patrick also wanted to show off his new shoes. Arla and I went shopping for them last weekend. Not the best angle, but Arla sold me on them when she said, "They scream Patrick!!" Who can say no to a comment like that. Never bought Rockports, but we will see.

We ended the evening with Jon and Arla. We met at Patrick's favorite local hangout, Marakesh. You can get a bottle of wine and a hookah. Did I mention that Marakesh is located the next street over from our apartment?

Oh wait, there's more. We wanted icecream!!! Have your pick, 31 flavors, Coldstone, or Haagen DaZ. We went to 31 flavors. It is also located at the bottom of our hill. Don't worry, the lactard only had half of her ice cream.

To sum up the evening. I did not have to leave my block, had hours of fun, and was still able to enjoy my Saturday evening even though I was only able to walk short distances. These are the times when I like Seoul. However, I'm still mad at Korea for having to have surgery.
