Getting Back into the Swing of Things

Two Fridays back I embarked on a week long adventure of living the life of a single mom. From a short first-hand experience I do not recommend it. Most weeks I have enough energy to make it M-F 7am-6pm and not a minute more. Especially if you have a daughter who thinks napping is more of a suggestion than a necessity. Geesh. Throw in the beginnings of morning sickness and you have one tough week ahead of you. I just went into survival mode. I also had some help from my momma-in-law who swooped in every so often at my lowest energy point. I went to bed shortly after the sun (sad I know) everyday to open my eyes at 6:30am to a bouncy toddler.

Patrick got back last Wednesday from his conference in San Diego (tough job huh?) and I was so thrilled to have my hubby/father back!! I slept for so long on Thursday that I woke up just as Reesa was going down for her morning cat nap. Yes, she reverted back to a morning nap. I don't care anymore, that means I get to have an entire hot cup of coffee at 8:30am!! I think that helps me be a better mom :)

We took Reesa on the Zoo train for the first time. She was so exhausted from walking that by 2pm she was willing to sit still for the entire 20 minute loop. Now she can't stop talking about the choo choo!!

Friday night we celebrated our 5 year anniversary with a sushi trip to Saburos. I love that place! It's an hour wait but most definitely totally worth it when you taste the salmon nigiri and the eel. Delish!! Reesa spent the night at Grandma/Grandpa's so we also got to sleep in and share a hot cup of coffee at the breakfast table in the morning. We appreciate the little things in life. :)

Saturday night we headed to the Timbers game. What a fun experience. I wish I wasn't so quesy so I could enjoy the full experience of the Timbers Army, but I stayed standing the entire game and clapped when needed but I just couldn't sing along. It was so cool to see Portland Pride at it's finest. I love live sports. Reesa spent the evening with Alison and Aaron and Baby Isaiah. She loves her cousin but still hasn't figured out how to communicate with him without smacking him at least once. One day I guess.

We try at least once a week to venture to a new park. Sunday we went to the OES school off Scholls Ferry. There are so many play structures!! Reesa is getting more brave each week. She decided that she was ready for a big girl swing. She did fall but only after swinging for 30 minutes. I bet her little arms got tired but I was amazed at her dedication to swing for that long.

She also loves bridges. Anything she can bounce on is a big winner for Reesa.

There is a little park near our place and I guess she was ready to tackle some bars this weekend too.

I would like to take all the credit for her independence but I think God gave her those determined Ortiz women genes. She is just growing up way to fast to keep up with.
