Community

This morning I'm sipping French Press coffee that my hubby made for me before heading to work and my baby is already napping because she partied hard last night with Aunt Alison and Grandma Kathy at a family party. I'm completely exhausted and filled from this week.

Where did all those shoes come from? All of Missio came over on Wednesday night. We ate buffalo wings, prayed together for our group, and just connected with one another. I love, love, absolutely love the people in our group!! It was loud and there were kiddos running around and jumping all over the place, but the thing I love most about Missio is that we are family. When one kid is fussy, there is always someone to step in and take him/her away to play with, when someone is hurting, there is someone there to listen and give a hug. That is family. The last of the last left around 10:30; that's good stuff!!

Last night we started our community outreach at Neighborhood House. Four of us came to help families in need grocery shop at their pantry downstairs. It was so interesting to chat with the different people & families that came through. I believe we saw 45 people/families in four hours. The cool thing is while you are helping them choose items off the shelf you get to chat it up with them. Better yet, they chat you up. I was given advice about what items go well together for meal, taught about how to read the back of labels, helped a few ladies that didn't speak English, answered questions about expiration dates, and shown a scar from a recent surgery on her breast. A few people tried to take more than they were allowed but for the most part people were very nice and grateful for our help and Neighborhood House.

It was a good night and we got to see the needs to fill donation wise for their pantry and see/meet those that come to the Food Box. We will continue working with the Food Box program each month and their Annual Auction at Duck Ridge Farms coming in August.

Now the week is over and Friday is here!! Today Reesa goes with Grandpa Larry to visit Great Grandma Kelley and I will get a pedicure and watch SATC 2 with my friend Vikki while Patrick gets to have Reesa all to himself this evening. Yeah for the weekend!!
