Marathon Weekend

This title has so many meanings for our weekend. It all started on Wednesday. Reesa was a bit fussy all day and Patrick went to work with a stuffy nose. No biggy, right?

Later that night we had our small group at our house and Reesa was not willing to stay with our first time babysitter. Bummer. She was really warm and it turned out that she had a slight fever. No big deal, a little tylenol and early to bed. Patrick decided to call in sick for Thursday because he needed to be 100% for Sunday.

Thursday morning I took Reesa with me on a few morning errands so that Patrick could sleep in. Reesa felt fine and seemed perfectly happy. We headed home for her afternoon nap. At 2pm she woke up with a flushed face, sad eyes, and a temp of 104. Yikes. So we took her in to the doctor for a check up. She was such a trooper. We were at Kaiser for 3 hours and had a baby catheter and blood drown to make sure she didn't have a urinary tract or an anemia issue. She only had a fever. So we headed home and our little girl slept for a long time that night. Poor Patrick had to come along with a Jamba. We just slumped on the couch for the rest of the night.

Friday rolls around and everyone is looking better. So Patrick and I decided to go out for the evening and left Reesa with Kathy and Larry. We ran into some friends at a pub in Multnomah Village and hung with them for a bit. Reesa's fever started to spike again so we picked her up and took her home.

Saturday was filled with a endless crying Reesa. I felt bad for her and for us. We were all tired and Reesa was not getting better but not getting worse. We stayed in and had a hearty pasta dinner in anticipation for the big race.

Sunday morning comes and Patrick's out the door at 5:45am. I was awake because Reesa was awake :( Reesa stayed with Larry while Kathy and I went to watch Patrick. What a morning!! It was pouring the entire time we were out there!! We made it to University of Portland at 9:00am to see Patrick at the 20 mile marker. He was flying and looking good. It was fun to watch all the other runners, bands, and spectators along the route. We've never gone along the route other than the finish line. After we saw Patrick we got back in the car and drove downtown to see him at the finish line.

Patrick finished with an excellent time of 3:21 which is a personal best for him. We were so proud of him and wish Reesa could have been there, but there's always next year!!

We spent the rest of the day at home trying to console Reesa. That afternoon her fever finally broke!! She broke out in a rash which the doctor warned us about. She had Roseola. Which is a high fever that can last up to a week and when it breaks, a rash appears for a few days. That's when our road to recovery began!!

Each day gets better and better and this morning as we pack for 10 days in L.A. she is a much happier baby and we laughed a lot while packing. I missed my little girl and I'm so glad that she's feeling better. It was really hard to watch her cry so much knowing there was nothing I could do to console her but it could have been so much worse!

Today is Tuesday and our marathon week is hopefully coming to a close. Wow and tough and interesting week for the books. Patrick already left for Boise this morning and will meet us in Oakland tonight. Reesa and I will fly on our own to meet Patrick and then we land in Santa Ana as a family tonight. L.A. get ready for the Kelleys!!

Korea town taco truck, In & Out, Santa Monica, Ortiz family, and oh so much more!!
